Marie Roux was born to French parents, in Gabon, Africa. After joining the National French Conservatory in the south of France, Marie moved to Paris to work under the direction of Dominique Leverd, a master in the world of theatre. There she got acquainted with the teachings of La Comedie Francaise and the beauty of classics. She made her debut on the Parisian stages as "Antigone" at Le Theatre de la Plaine. On camera, she played opposite award winner Souad Amidou in the film And If We Would Live Together, directed by Nathalie Camidebach. The film was nominated for the Clap d'Or award at the Sens International Film Festival. Marie also appeared in Extreme Limits, an acclaimed TV program produced by TF1. She then worked under the coaching of Jack Waltzer, a member of The Actor's Studio and The Lee Strasberg Institute. Unsurprisingly, she moved to Los Angeles where she joined the Stella Adler Academy of Acting. She made her debut on the LA stage in a play by Maxim Gorky, The Lower Depth, portraying with passion the lead of Satin. At this time, Marie met a charismatic woman, Sally Jackson, who taught her the stillness and subtlety of acting for a camera and, above all else, the treasure of cherishing who you are and accepting your uniqueness and differences. Marie is constantly working on her craft and performing in several productions. Back Stage West critically acclaimed her role in the play, Happy Christmas Merry Chanukah, performed at The Company of Angels Theatre. She has been signed by legendary manager/producer Phyllis Carlyle, who has managed top stars in the industry and also produced the critically acclaimed international blockbuster Se7en and the Golden Globe winning film The Accidental Tourist. Not too long ago, Marie created her own production company "MRFeatures" to launch her first film Remember the Eyes, that she wrote, produced and acted in. Marie is a very gifted martial artist, triple black belt in Ho Shin Moo Do, Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido. Marie also belongs to Agape, a trans-denominational spiritual center. |
